Origins - Some sources place the origin in either Essex or Norfolk, England, with a record from as early as 1580. Another source suggests it may have originated in Essex in the 1830s.. The variety was sold in Norfolk in the 1700s and is known to have been recorded in Somerset. Moderately vigorous, upright spreading tree that spur bearing.
Type - Dual purpose - both eating and cooking.
Season - Late Season
Size & Shape - Medium sized, round and flattened, sometimes conical. Prominent ridges and slight ribbing.
Colour - Base colour is greenish yellow ripening to lemon yellow with a brownish red blush on the sunny side.
Taste - Flesh is white and firm, juicy with a nutty flavours.
Storage - Keeps well for months in storage.
