
Tydemans Late Orange
Origins -It was developed during the early 1930s by H.M. Tydeman in Kent by crossing Cox’s Orange Pippin and a Laxton’s Superb.
Type - Eating apple - Vigorous, upright spreading habit that produces alot of whippy new growth. Bears fruit on spurs. Scab and mildew resistant. Crops heavily on a yearly basis and needs to be thinned to produce appropriate size fruit.
Season - Late season
Size & Shape - Medium sized apple.
Colour - A prominent orange-red blush covers much of the fruit with some broken red stripes that can be seen over the blush and some russeting.
Taste - Creamy yellow flesh with crisp, firm and juicy. Sweet and sharp with rich flavour.
Storage - Tydeman's Late Orange has excellent keeping qualities, able to be stored for several months in a cool, dry place. The fruit mellows in storage, becoming intensely rich in flavor.
Pollination - Suitable companions are Allens ever lasting, Alfriston, Braeburn, Captain Kidd, Ellison's Orange, Gala, Golden Delicious.
