Black Hamburg grapes are a deciduous vine climber that produce large black grapes with a delicious, sweet flavour. Best eaten fresh. Also able to be made into wine. Ripening later (in autumn) with good resistance to disease. Leaves turn yellow before falling. Grape leaves are also edible and can be used in tea making or to wrap foods. Grapes like a sunny position in average type soils that are free-draining. This plant is a cutting from a very old vine in central otago given to me by a client.
