Dwarf comfrey or common comfrey (Symphytum officinale) is a herbaceous perennial, well-known for its medicinal properties.
Like Russian comfrey it is also valuable companion plant for any food producing garden. Great bee fodder and very useful for composting practices. It has a deep tap-root which brings up nutrients from down below to then deposit them back inot the soil when they breakdown. The leaves can be cut to make liquid fertiliser, which can then be fed back to the garden. This variety is dwarf in nature and forms a spreading clump. Dies back in winter but unlike russian comfrey will not die away completely.
