Kidd's Orange Red is named after James Hutton Kidd, an orchard owner from early 20th century New Zealand. This apple is a cross between Cox’s Orange Pippin and Red Delicious.
The skin of this tasty apple is yellow with an orange-red flush. It has irregular patches of russet which makes it look marbled. The skin of Kidd’s orange is thin with light yellow-cream coloured, dense flesh.
It is firm with a sweet, honeyed flavour. It makes a delicious tree ripened cider.
Late season variety.
